Teen Dies From Freezing Exposure

(Wewela, SD) — South Dakota’s frigid weather is turning deadly. According to the Tripp County Sheriff’s Office, a 16-year-old boy has died from exposure to the freezing temperatures. His body was found near an abandoned vehicle on Sunday in Tripp County just north of the Nebraska border. Investigators believe his vehicle got stuck in tire ruts, and family members found him about 150 yards away. An investigation into the boy’s death is still ongoing.
