Carbon Pipeline Terrorism Awareness Resolution Fails

news

(Pierre, SD) — A resolution for the Public Utilities Commission to examine the potential for terrorism on carbon pipelines will not be moving forward. Yesterday, Senate Concurrent Resolution 606 was sent to the 41st legislative day by one vote, effectively killing it. The resolution would’ve asked the PUC to conduct comprehensive risk assessments of CO2 pipelines. Trevor Jones with Summit Carbon Solutions spoke against the legislation, saying pipelines are the safest way to transport any substance and there has never been an effort to use a CO2 pipeline as a weapon of mass destruction over decades of use.
