(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota lawmakers are advancing a bill that would define gender in state law based on biological sex. The House approved the measure Thursday by a 74-to-13 vote. The bill was sponsored by Republican Representative SuAnn Olson. If the legislation becomes law, the new gender definition would apply to institutions that get state funding, such as public schools and state agencies.
