(Sioux Falls, SD) — Smithfield Meats in Sioux Falls has been fined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. According to OSHA, the company did not ensure the safety of workers when they were in the walk-in steam ovens. Authorities say a worker became trapped in a steamer and the process in the oven began back in August. The worker received severe burns to their arms, back and face. OSHA fined Smithfield over ten-thousand dollars as a result.
