(Pierre, SD) — A bill that would banish Daylight Saving Time in South Dakota is stalling out. Senate Bill 186 sponsor, Republican Senator Carl Perry, cited sleep patterns, driver safety and more as reasons to lock in standard time. Opposition on the bill focused on the lost hour of daylight in the afternoon, saying it would affect kids’ sports and farmers. Ultimately, the bill died being deferred to the 41st day by an overwhelming 8-1 committee vote
