(Bismarck, ND) — A bill supporting funding for rural grocery stores has passed the Senate. Senator Janne Myrdal who was one of the sponsors for Senate Bill 2228 said it could bring in one-million dollars in grants. Myrdal said “you can’t have people in their seventies and eighties driving 30, 40, 50 miles for groceries.” The bill would help prevent food deserts and funding could start in July and go for two years. The vote was 40-to-6 and it’s now moved to the House.
