(Grand Forks, ND) — Grand Forks Public Schools is getting back some of the money it lost in a fraudulent wire transfer last summer. Business Manager Brandon Baumbach tells the Grand Forks Herald that law enforcement has recovered more than half of the two-point-two million dollars defrauded from the district. The expensive scam happened August 16th and was discovered during the following billing cycle. Baumbach says it was an isolated incident and there’s no reason to believe it was internal fraud or embezzlement.
