Opening Arguments Begin In Mandan Greenpeace Trial

court news

(Mandan, ND) — The developers of the Dakota Access Pipeline are calling it a “day of reckoning” for Greenpeace. Opening arguments started Wednesday in the civil trial against the environmental group. Pipeline developer Energy Transfer is expected to spend two weeks presenting its case at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan. They are suing Greenpeace for 300-million dollars, claiming they were behind the protests in 2016 that halted pipeline construction south of Bismarck, and called their behavior unlawful. Greenpeace denies the claims, and says Energy Transfer is unlawfully targeting them to intimidate protesters.
