(Pierre, SD) — Governor Rhoden is sharing his new plan for a men’s prison facility in South Dakota. Yesterday, he announced an executive order to create a task force called “Project Prison Reset.” It’s a working group that will examine whether or not the state needs a new prison, how big it should be, and where it should be built. Rhoden expressed this is an effort to overcome the proposed prison’s recent roadblock after House Bill 10-25 to authorize construction failed in the Legislature. The first meeting is set for April 2nd in Pierre while at least one is planned for Sioux Falls that will be open to the public.
