(Washington, DC) — Senate Majority Leader John Thune says he will be keeping a close eye on the effects of tariffs to his home state. In an interview with FOX yesterday, Thune said that a large amount of South Dakota’s imports and exports move between neighboring countries. But Thune recognized President Trump’s ultimate goal of the tariffs, which is to stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S. Thune said he hopes the tariffs will only be temporary once Canada and Mexico become more engaged in the efforts.
