(Pierre, SD) — Governor Larry Rhoden continues to make his mark during his early days in office. Rhoden has now signed dozens of bills into South Dakota law this legislative session with the official tally up to 64 so far. Some of the more prominent pieces of legislation approved include prohibiting the use of eminent domain for CO2 pipelines and adult website age verification. Most recently on Thursday, Rhoden signed House Bill 10-44, or the baby box bill named after Baby Gabriel, who was found dead at a Sioux Falls recycling center last August. It authorizes the use of safety boxes to anonymously surrender a newborn at an emergency location across South Dakota.
