Federal Cuts Pose Big Risk To South Dakota

The financial website WalletHub has released a report ranking South Dakota 11th overall among the most federally dependent states. Federal money can make up as much as 40 percent of the state’s revenue. Republican Representative Scott Odenbach raised concerns last week about how any of the ongoing DOGE cuts are likely to impact the state. He says there’s going to be a drawback after analyzing just how large of a percentage of South Dakota’s budget comes from federal dollars.
