PIERRE, S.D. (SDBA) — As the 100th legislative session enters its 37th day, South Dakota lawmakers will tackle fiscal legislation today (Thursday).
Both chambers convene at 10 a.m., focusing on appropriations and property tax measures.
The Senate calendar includes two bills: SB 55, which would revise property tax levies for school districts and modify state aid formulas, and SB 220, the appropriations bill funding state government operations.
House members will consider HB 1046, legislation revising the current fiscal year’s budget.
Governor Larry Rhoden will sign SB 216, his property tax relief measure, at 10 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda before hosting his weekly press conference at 10:30 a.m.
The bill signing will be livestreamed on the governor’s Facebook page, while the press conference will be available on SD.net.
Legislative leadership will conduct press conferences between 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., livestreamed on SD.net.
Thursday marks the 37th and final day of the regular legislative session. Lawmakers will return on Monday, March 31, 2025, for a veto session, during which they will consider at least one gubernatorial veto.
