(Pierre, SD) — The controversial South Dakota bill regarding material considered harmful to kids in libraries and schools has been rewritten. State House lawmakers voted to accept changes to House Bill 12-39 made by the Senate on Monday. The bill would now make it necessary for each public school and library in South Dakota to provide software to their computers to limit a minor’s ability to gain access to obscene material. The amended version removed the language that would allow for criminal charges against librarians and educators.
