(Rapid City, SD) — An Ellsworth Air Force Base active-duty airman is having his day in court. Quinterius Chappelle made his first federal court appearance yesterday, charged with second-degree murder in the case of 21-year-old Sahela Sangrait of Box Elder. The 24-year-old Chappelle was arrested in connection to the death of Sangrait, whose remains were found near Hill City two weeks ago. Investigators believe she was killed on the base. However, Sangrait’s body was discovered over 50 miles away close to the Pennington and Custer county line by a hiker on March 4th. She had been missing since August of last year. Further details related to Chappelle have not been released as many of the court documents remain sealed, including the affidavit, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecutes the case.
