(Keystone, SD) — Governor Larry Rhoden is offering the Black Hills to be the site for President Trump’s ‘National Garden of American Heroes.’ Rhoden sent a letter to President Trump yesterday proposing a location near Mount Rushmore for the new national monument. Trump first spoke about building the outdoor park that would feature great figures of America’s history five years ago during his speech at Mount Rushmore’s 4th of July fireworks celebration. In Rhoden’s letter, he says the family of late businessman Chuck Lien is willing to donate 40 acres of land in the Black Hills right next to Mount Rushmore. Former Governor Kristi Noem first offered the Black Hills for this project back in 2020. Notable Americans that would be honored include George Washington, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Harriet Tubman and Babe Ruth.
