(Polk County, ND) — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam. Complaints say a person calls residents while claiming to be a sheriff’s office employee. They tell residents they missed jury duty and must pay a fine or risk going to jail. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says it never collects fees or fines over the phone or in person and to be aware of the scam.
