Judicial Reform Bill Signed By Montana Governor

(Helena, MT) — A measure aimed at protecting the Montana Legislature’s ability to enact laws is now on the books. Governor Greg Gianforte signed the measure yesterday, which strengthens existing law that limits the ability of courts in the state to enjoin legislation passed by lawmakers. Gianforte’s office also argued this new law “rejects the court’s effort to revise the framework for granting preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders.” The governor said the separation of powers is one of the top “traditions in the western world” and this bill will protect it.
