(Bismarck, ND) — The term limits amendment passed nearly three years ago is still being determined by the North Dakota chambers. The state Senate altered a House proposal that once stated the amendment was effective on or after the 2022 general election. Instead, the Senate voted to change the effective date to January 1st, 2023, with supporters arguing the bill gave lawmakers reelected in 2024 another term in 2028. The House will now vote on the revision before further action is taken.
