(Bismarck, ND) — State lawmakers want to set mandatory minimum sentences for people found guilty of human trafficking charges. The bill proposal sets minimum sentencing based on the class type of felony, ranging from five to 20 years without eligibility for parole for any crime. The sentences would only apply to verdicts reached in district courts and not at the federal level. Agreement to set stricter penalties could happen down the road.
