(Spirit Lake Reservation, ND) — Spirit Lake Reservation members are feeling the effects of police shortages. More help is needed at the Spirit Lakes Tribe, which has four officers patrolling 400 square miles. The federal government allows 17 patrol officers to be employed at once, but hiring challenges and budget constraints have made it difficult to expand the force.
