(Bismarck, ND) — State lawmakers want students found guilty of sex crimes to receive harsher punishment. The original bill proposal would have required schools to expel students found guilty of assaulting a peer at the same school. Instead, a third option was introduced to give victims and their parents or guardians the power to dictate the logistics of a safety plan, with the school responsible for ensuring the offender abides. If passed, the new rule would include all sexual offenses.
