(Brookings, SD) — The City of Brookings is giving residents incentives to plant new trees. The 2025 Brookings Urban Forest Initiative program will kick off April 22nd. The city will reimburse up to one-hundred dollars for a qualifying tree purchase and an additional 25 dollars for trees planted in front yards. Fifty dollars will be given for treatment of Ash or Elm trees. Residents can bring their receipt to the Parks, Recreation and Forestry office during business hours to get the reimbursement. Funds are limited and are first-come, first-serve.
