(Dell Rapids, SD) — A Dell Rapids High School student is in trouble after authorities found a gun in a car during a routine lockdown drill yesterday. According to the school district, a drug-sniffing dog was working in the parking lot when it alerted on the student’s car. Deputies then searched the vehicle and say they found a shotgun and ammo inside. The student was taken into custody and faces a misdemeanor charge. Officials note no threats were made, and no one was ever in danger. The district says it plans to follow school policy as it moves forward with disciplinary action.
