Citizen Legislature Ceremony Celebrates 100 Sessions

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Legislature is commemorating 100 regular sessions with a special ‘citizens legislature’ in Pierre. Hundreds of past and present lawmakers gathered in the State Capitol on Saturday. South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden spoke, saying it’s easy for South Dakota to take things for granted like having a “thriving economy” and “the lowest unemployment in the nation.” However, Rhoden credited the people the state government is representing for those benchmarks. Former South Dakota governors in U.S. Senator Mike Rounds of Pierre and Dennis Daugaard of Dell Rapids were also in attendance.
