(Sioux Falls, SD) — The impact of federal spending cuts on South Dakota is now in full scope. South Dakota’s Bureau of Finance and Management has released a list of funding losses to state programs, which total more than nine-million dollars. These cuts will affect several grants offered by the state’s Department of Health, Department of Social Services, and Department of Education. The largest hit is more than two-million dollars coming from education funds tied to pandemic relief for the East Dakota Educational Cooperative. South Dakota Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen tells KELO Land News says the state is prepared even though these federal funds might be going away.
