(Sioux Falls, SD) — A couple of South Dakota law enforcement agencies are officially working with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Both the Hughes and Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Offices are partnering with ICE to delegate certain deputies as warrant service officers. These officers can identify immigration violators who are already in custody and potentially aid in immigration proceedings. This comes as local authorities continue to seek more resources from ICE during increased efforts to find and remove illegal aliens from the state.
