(Watertown, SD) — A Minnesota man is in custody for vandalisms in Watertown yesterday. The Watertown Police Department says 29-year-old Michael Ortiz has been charged with Intentional Damage to Property. According to authorities, it was discovered that Ortiz had thrown rocks and broken pieces of statues through several windows of businesses causing an estimated 11-hundred dollars in damages. Ortiz was found with multiple statues that appeared to be decorations from headstones. Watertown Police is now asking for the public’s help in finding the owners of the statues and information about suspicious activity at the local Mt. Hope Cemetery.
