Student Visas Canceled In SD

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Board of Regents says that about a dozen student visas have been canceled in the state. Those are the ones self-reported across South Dakota’s six public universities. With the Trump Administration’s cutting of the Department of Education and federal crackdown on illegal immigration, student visas and legal statuses for international students have been canceled across the country. Northern State University’s student body president Samuel Brumfield is speaking out, saying he believes students should still find hope during this unexpected time and continue working hard in school. According to Board of Regents officials, South Dakota universities are encouraging students to monitor their visa status and contact the international offices immediately if there is a change.
