(Pierre, SD) — A settlement is being reached in a lawsuit between South Dakota and the NCAA over Name, Image, and Likeness — or NIL. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley made the announcement yesterday. It reduces the amount of money Division One schools will have to pay toward the NCAA’s proposed two-point-eight billion dollar settlement of federal class action lawsuits. The NCAA will also stipulate the creation of a Women’s Basketball Performance Fund. As part of the agreement, South Dakota will now dismiss its lawsuit. Jackley says the savings are a win for Division One athletics in the state.
