MESA, Ariz. – North Dakota State men’s golf wrapped up the 2025 Summit League Championships with a second-place finish at the Longbow Golf Course on Tuesday, finishing as runner-up to Oral Roberts.
The Bison remained in second for all three rounds, posting a final round 281 (-3) to finish at -8 for the event, four shots behind Oral Roberts at -12. South Dakota took third at -5, while South Dakota State fell from the top spot to begin the day to finish in fourth at -3.
Jake Skarperud led the Bison on the final day, matching Rylin Petry’s 66 (-5) on Monday, tied for the second-best Bison round in conference championship history, and the best final round score for a Bison in the postseason. Skarperud carded four-straight birdies to begin the day, and finished with six overall as he climbed nine spots up the leaderboard to finish in tie for sixth place at -3 for the event.
Petry finished as the top Bison for the championship, as he shot an even-par round of 71 on the final day to stay at -4. Petry had three birdies and three bogeys in the round as he dropped two spots and finished in fifth, which earned the junior all-tournament team honors. Petry’s final score of -4 is the fifth-best tournament score for a Bison individual in conference championship history.
Josh Galvin joined Skarperud as the only other Bison under par in the final round, carding four birdies, including one on the final hole, to finish with a 70 (-1) on the day. Galvin finished the championships just outside the top 10 in a tie for 11th place at -2. With Galvin finishing as the third Bison under par, it is the first time in conference championship history that the Bison had three individuals finish under par.
Ian Simonich wrapped up the scoring rounds for the Bison on Tuesday, as he shot a 74 (+3) after a pair of even par rounds over the first two days. Simonich was +4 out of the gate after the first four holes, before finishing the round with three birdies and two more bogeys. Simonich finished the championships at +3, in a tie for 19th place.
Max Wilson closed out the event for NDSU, shooting a 76 (+5) in the final round. Wilson carded just one birdie on the day and fell to a tie for 34th place, finishing his first postseason event at +7.
NDSU’s -8 tournament score is the third-best final score in postseason history for the Bison, behind only 2022 (-13) and 2024 (-10). The four-shot gap to Oral Roberts is also the third-closest runner-up finish in NDSU’s conference championship history.
