(Sioux Falls, SD) — USDA programs that provides funding for Feeding South Dakota are being cut. One program helped to purchase food from local farmers and producers. Feeding South Dakota CEO Lori Dykstra says the organization won’t lose too much from the cost as it comprised of only about one percent of their food programming. But these cuts are expected to be felt by the 22 producers that Feeding South Dakota was buying from. The organization does say about 30 percent of their food is purchased through USDA funding, making more potential cuts a high concern.
