New Town Schools Put On Lockdown After Threat

(New Town, ND) — A lockdown has been lifted at public schools in New Town. All schools in the tribal community were put on lockdown by authorities with the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation Tuesday morning because of a potential threat. A Facebook post says officers were at the scene at the New Town High School at about 11am. The police chief says the lockdown was lifted yesterday afternoon but that authorities will continue to make their presence known at the school as their investigation continues, and that the elementary school will also have a presence.
