(Rapid City, SD) — Police are identifying a man whose body was found under a bridge in Rapid City at the beginning of the week. It was 64-year-old Jerry Evans of Rapid City who died. Rapid City Police is now investigating his death as a homicide after an autopsy revealed he suffered significant blunt-force trauma. They also say it happened within a concealed “outdoor camp” purposefully hidden under the bridge. Officers initially responded to a report of an unconscious man underneath the I-190 bridge around 8 a.m. Monday morning. Evans was found dead when they arrived. Police have talked to multiple witnesses and say there is no reason to believe there’s any further danger to the public.
