(Pierre, SD) — Meetings are now underway for Governor Rhoden’s Project Prison Reset. The newly created task force will examine whether the state needs a new prison, how big it should be, and where it should be built. Yesterday, the group of lawmakers and other leaders met for the first time, visiting the previously proposed men’s prison site in rural Lincoln County between Canton and Harrisburg. The task force also toured the current state penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Another meeting is set for today at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance in Sioux Falls to hold discussion, presentations and listen to public input. The full agenda is online at Boards-and-Commissions-dot-SD-dot-gov.
