Minot Resident Petition For Special Mayoral Election

(Minot, ND) — Minot residents are petitioning for a special mayoral election. Minot City Council President Mark Jantzer holds the position until it is filled after a complaint against former Mayor Tom Ross led to his resignation last week. A state century code allows for a special election if a petition receives enough votes. However, failure to reach enough signatures by the April 16th deadline allows council members to appoint one of the six sitting members as mayor for the remaining term that ends in June 2026.
