(Bismarck, ND) — The Burleigh County State Attorney won’t charge the Bismarck police officer involved in a fatal shooting. Officer Nathan Anderson was the only one to discharge their weapon when multiple Bismarck officers responded to a report of a woman driving under the influence. Maline Udell reportedly ignored several commands to stop her car while trying to flee the scene and eventually struck an officer with her vehicle. Anderson’s lawyers say he shot at the suspect to protect the officers and multiple bystanders. Udell was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
