(Bismarck, ND) — A bill covering education and public libraries is being vetoed. Governor Kelly Armstrong denied signing the proposal that requires public and school libraries to place obscene or sexually explicit books in areas away from minors. The bill also requires safeguards for the libraries’ online databases. Governor Armstrong said the bill was legislative overreach and censorship. Supporters argue the law is necessary to protect minors from inappropriate content. The state House and Senate will need a two-thirds majority vote to override the veto.
