Remembrance Held One Year After Deadly Teen Crash In Sioux Falls

(Sioux Falls, SD) — It’s been one year since a deadly car crash that killed two teens and left five others hurt in a central Sioux Falls neighborhood. The driver of an SUV with several teenage passengers inside lost control and struck a tree, and then crashed into a house at East 18th Street and 2nd Avenue. Milana Reeves and Eric Hopkins, both 15-year-olds, were killed. Friends and family of Reeves gathered at Sertoma Park yesterday to remember and honor her life. Police say the SUV was going at a high rate of speed when it crashed. The driver, 18-year-old Damion Laurelez, is still awaiting trial. He’s been charged with manslaughter and vehicular homicide, among other charges.
