Montana Governor Signs Bill Denying Purchase Of Farmland By China, Russia

(Helena, MT) — Montana is limiting who can buy farmland in the Treasure State. Governor Greg Gianforte signed a bill yesterday that will ban the sale of ag land, homes, and critical infrastructure near the state’s military assets by Montana entities to foreign adversaries or corporations in those nations. That includes China, Russia, Iran, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela. Gianforte said in a statement the idea is to keep those nations from harvesting “private data” and spying on Americans. The new law goes into effect later this year.
