Bill Introduced To Provide Free Meals

(Bismarck, ND) — Local lawmakers are pushing for a bill that would provide every student with school meals at no cost in North Dakota. As written, House Bill 1475 would make school breakfast and lunch free for all K-12 students, regardless of their parents’ income. Around 125-thousand students would be fed through this legislation. The bill asks for 140-million dollars over the next two school years, which would come from the general fund. If passed, free meals would become available starting in July 2025.
