Governor Burgum Signs Executive Order for Teacher Retention and Recruitment

(Bismarck, ND) — Governor Burgum signed an executive order Friday establishing the Task Force for Teacher Retention and Recruitment. Schools across North Dakota have been struggling to hire enough teachers and retain existing ones, and the order aims to address this issue. The task force will include 11 to 15 stakeholders from the state’s education community, along with other state education officials. By late next year, group will look into various areas and issues within the state education system that could be improved upon, in time for the 2025 legislative session. The action comes a month after the governor granted an Education Standards and Practices Board request for a new student teacher internship program.
