(Williston, ND) — Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking state regulatory approval for a new power line near Williston. Proponents of the plan say the new power line is needed to serve the growing electricity demand in northwest North Dakota. However, some people are concerned it will provide more power to the Atlas Data Center, which locals say produces an irritating buzzing sound that can be heard from their homes. A hearing on the request for approval was held on Thursday, and testimony from the hearing will be reviewed by the Public Service Commission.
