(Belcourt, ND) — A Belcourt man is facing life in prison after he was sentenced yesterday in a child-sex case. Court officials in Fargo say 35-year-old Robert Houle was sentenced for abusive sexual contact with a child under the age of 12 on Friday, this is after he pleaded guilty to the charge in July. Investigators reportedly determined that Houle had sexually abused a Native American child on multiple occasions while the victim was six to 11 years old. Court officials say the incidents of abuse had taken place on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation.
