Bismarck Man Faces Gun Charges

(Bismarck, ND) — A Bismarck man who’s a convicted felon is in custody on gun charges. Due to previous terrorizing and reckless endangerment convictions, it’s illegal for 36-year-old Kevin Schmidt to own guns. However, police say they found several firearms during a recent search of his house, including shotguns, handguns, and a 50-caliber rifle. Schmidt is charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and each count carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 2nd.
