(Bismarck, ND) — A man has been sentenced for a deadly 2022 shooting in Bismarck. The incident happened when Kyle Riley went with a woman to an apartment complex to retrieve a cell phone from Michael Shane. An argument occurred in the parking lot, and officials say Shane was fatally shot by Riley when he tried to get inside the vehicle Riley was sitting in. He was originally charged with murder, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a handgun, though he ended up pleading guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter rather than murder. On Wednesday, Riley was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison for the three charges.
