Canadian Man Pleads Guilty To Damaging Dakotas Energy Stations

(Ray, ND) — A Canadian man who damaged two energy facilities in the Dakotas has pleaded guilty. Authorities say Cameron Smith damaged the Wheelock Substation near Ray, North Dakota last year, along with a transformer and pump station at the Keystone Pipeline near Carpenter, South Dakota last year. Smith reportedly damaged the facilities by shooting at them with a high-powered rifle. He faces up to 20 years in prison each for two counts of destruction of an energy facility.
