Cass And Clay Counties Looking To Share Inmates, Reduce Jail Overcrowding

(Fargo, ND) — Cass and Clay Counties are closer to a deal that would help eliminate overcrowding issues at the Cass County Jail. Yesterday, the Clay County Commission approved an agreement that would allow their own county jail to house inmates from neighboring Cass County. Per the agreement, up to ten Cass County inmates would be housed in Clay County Jail at the cost of 75-dollars per inmate per day. It’s not a done deal yet, as the Cass County Commission still needs to vote on the agreement that, if approved, would go into effect later this month or early next.
