(Williston, ND) — Chord Energy and Enerplus are merging. Earlier this month, the board of directors for both companies unanimously approved the combination, giving the combined company about one-point-three million net acres in the Williston Basin, and a fourth-quarter production of 287-thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. Chord shareholders will own about two-thirds of the company, while Enerplus takes the remainder. The combined value of the new company will be around 11-billion dollars, and the transaction is expected to close later this year.
