Conditions Favorable For Ice Fishing

(Bismarck, ND) — There is a lot less snow outside compared to last year, and that’s good news for anglers eager to get out and fish. Twenty-five percent of the state’s anglers prefer ice fishing, but last year, only 5-percent of fishing in the state was on the ice. However, the current lack of snow on the ground and near-record fish population is expected to draw more people out on the ice. The Game and Fish fisheries director says the southern part of the state has reports of six-inch ice, and the northern half has around a foot in some spots.
